Velocitylocked
Velocitylocked is a term used in engineering and physics to describe a state in which the velocity of a moving element is held fixed at a predefined value. This can occur through a purely mechanical constraint, such as a clutch, brake, rigid coupling, or a locking pin that prevents relative motion, or through active control systems that regulate speed via feedback, actuation, and power delivery.
In control terms, a velocitylocked condition arises when a regulatory loop achieves a stable operating point
Applications appear in precision manufacturing, material handling, robotics, and laboratory experiments, where maintaining constant speed improves
