Velkoye

Velkoye is a rural locality (selo) in Velkhar Province of Veridia. It serves as the administrative center of Velkoye rural settlement within Velkhar District. The village sits on the southern bank of the Velka River, about 38 kilometers north of the provincial capital Velgrad. The surrounding landscape is a mix of deciduous forest and agricultural fields, with a temperate continental climate that brings cold winters and warm summers.

The name Velkoye is derived from the Slavic root vel- meaning "great" or "large," a common element in the toponyms of the region. The settlement likely formed as an agricultural hub in the early modern period, expanding slowly through farming, forestry, and small-scale trade.
