Vasércásványokból

Vasércásványokból refers to minerals from which iron can be economically extracted. These are naturally occurring substances containing iron compounds in sufficient concentration and accessibility to be considered a source of iron. The primary iron ore minerals are oxides, but carbonates and silicates also play a role.

The most important iron ore mineral is hematite, which has the chemical formula Fe2O3. Magnetite, with the formula Fe3O4, is another significant iron ore, notable for its magnetic properties. Goethite, a hydrated iron oxide (FeO(OH)), is also a common ore. Siderite, an iron carbonate (FeCO3), is less common but still a source of iron. Iron is also present in various silicate minerals, though these are generally less economically viable for direct iron extraction.

The formation of these iron ore minerals is closely linked to geological processes, including magmatic activity, hydrothermal alteration, and weathering. Large deposits often form in sedimentary basins or through the metamorphism of iron-rich rocks. The extraction and processing of these minerals are fundamental to the global iron and steel industry, forming the basis of much of modern manufacturing and infrastructure.
