Vapauksilla, or "freedom days" in Finnish, refers to a tradition in Finland where people take a day off from work or school to enjoy leisure activities, often involving outdoor pursuits. This practice is particularly popular during the summer months, especially in June and July, when the long daylight hours create ideal conditions for outdoor recreation.

The concept of vapauksilla emerged as a way for Finns to make the most of the warm weather and extended daylight, which can last up to 20 hours in the northern parts of the country during midsummer. While not an official public holiday, many Finns spontaneously take a day off to engage in activities such as hiking, swimming, picnicking, or simply relaxing in nature.
