Valutäsäkring, often translated as currency hedging or foreign exchange risk management, refers to strategies employed by individuals or businesses to mitigate potential losses arising from fluctuations in exchange rates. When engaging in international transactions, such as importing or exporting goods, investing in foreign assets, or traveling abroad, the value of one currency can change relative to another. The primary goal of valutäsäkring is to create certainty about the future cost or value of a transaction denominated in a foreign currency. This can be achieved through various financial instruments.
