Valusta

Valusta is a fictional city-state in the fantasy world of Eldoria. Nestled on the Lys River in the central plains, it sits at the foot of the Valen Mountains. The climate is temperate with foggy springs and warm, dry summers.

Valusta is governed by a guild-based republic. The seven largest trades—Textiles, Metalwork, Glass, Commerce, Agriculture, Navigation, and Scholars—each appoint one guildmaster to the Council of Guildmasters. The council selects a captain or prefect who acts as head of state for five years. External affairs are conducted by the council, while internal policy favors guild autonomy and mercantile interests.

Valusta is a major trading hub with a busy river port and early-industrial crafts. Key exports include textiles, metal goods, glassware, and grain; imports include timber and spice. Markets operate daily, and caravans from inland regions visit weekly.

The city is known for its guild halls, ornate textiles, and public festivals. The Night Lanterns festival marks the harvest season and features lantern-lit river processions.

Founded as a river trading post, Valusta grew into a mercantile republic. It expanded during the Pax Lysana era and preserved autonomy through treaties. The Guild Charter solidified the balance between commerce and governance.

Notable landmarks include the Silver Atrium, the Dock Gate, and the Clock of Seven Guilds. The name Valusta derives from old words meaning valley and home in the language of Eldoria.
