ValueAt10

ValueAt10 is a term used in statistics and programming to denote a value associated with the number 10, but its exact meaning depends on context. In many cases it refers to the 10th percentile (P10) of a data distribution or to the value at the 10th position in an ordered sequence. Because there is no universal standard, documentation or codebases typically clarify which interpretation is intended.

As a percentile, valueAt10 represents the value below which 10 percent of observations fall. Computation follows common percentile conventions, of which several exist. A common approach is the nearest-rank method: sort the data, then select the element at position k = ceil(0.10 × n). Linear interpolation between adjacent values can yield a smoother estimate. For example, in a sorted data set of ten numbers, the P10 value may be the first element under nearest-rank, or a small interpolated value between the first two elements under a linear interpolation scheme. The exact result depends on the chosen convention.

As a positional retrieval, valueAt10 can mean the element located at position 10 in an ordered sequence. In languages or contexts using zero-based indexing, this corresponds to the element with index 10 (the 11th item). In one-based contexts, it is the 10th item. In code, functions or methods are often named explicitly to avoid ambiguity, such as valueAtIndex10 or valueAtPosition10, and typically include bounds checking.
