Valleytl

Valleytl is a rural valley and local municipality in the fictional region of Northmere, Veridia. The valley extends southeast from the foothills of Valley Ridge, following the Valley River. The landscape comprises rolling fields, orchards, and small hamlets. The highest point is Valley Peak at about 520 meters. The climate is temperate, with cold winters and mild summers; annual precipitation averages around 750 mm.

History: The name Valleytl derives from the descriptive "valley" plus the abbreviation "tl" used in early land records. Settlement dates back to the 18th century, with significant growth after the arrival of a regional rail line in the late 19th century. The municipality was formally established in 1893.

Economy: The economy is mixed, dominated by agriculture—orchards, vineyards, and dairy—alongside light manufacturing and tourism. The Valley Toll Bridge, a 19th-century stone crossing over the river, is a regional landmark. The valley supports small businesses, crafts, and a weekly market.

Demographics and governance: The municipality has about 9,600 residents (2021) and is part of Northmere District. Local government consists of a mayor and a six-member council.

Infrastructure: Valleytl is served by the regional highway A91 and a branch rail line connecting to Crestmont. The Valleytl train station links residents to larger urban centers.

Environment and culture: The area includes the Valleytl Nature Reserve and several protected woodlands, hosting red fox, European badger, and diverse birds. The annual Harvest Festival celebrates agriculture and regional crafts.

Education: Valleytl operates Valleytl Community College, offering programs in agriculture, engineering, and sustainable development.
