Valkosoluryhmä, also known as the White Army or White Guard, was a diverse coalition of anti-communist forces that fought against the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War (1917-1923). This group was not a single, unified military organization but rather a collection of various military formations, political factions, and individuals united by their opposition to the October Revolution and the establishment of Soviet power.

The composition of the White Army varied greatly across Russia's vast territory. It included former Imperial Russian Army officers and soldiers, Cossacks, landowners, members of the middle and upper classes, and various nationalist groups who opposed Bolshevik rule. Ideologically, the White movement was equally diverse, encompassing monarchists, liberals, conservatives, and socialists who favored a different form of government than the one imposed by the Bolsheviks. Key leaders included figures like Admiral Alexander Kolchak, General Anton Denikin, and General Pyotr Wrangel, each commanding significant forces in different regions.

Despite their shared enemy, the White forces often suffered from disunity, lack of coordination, and strategic disagreements. Their efforts were further hampered by insufficient foreign support, logistical challenges, and internal political divisions. While they achieved initial successes and controlled significant portions of Russia at various points, ultimately, the Red Army, with its centralized command, ideological fervor, and effective propaganda, proved victorious. The defeat of the White Army led to the consolidation of Bolshevik power and the eventual formation of the Soviet Union.
