Vaahtobetoniin

Vaahtobetoniin, also known as foam concrete, is a lightweight insulating material made by mixing cement paste with a pre-formed foam. The foam is typically generated from a foaming agent, which is a surfactant-based solution that creates a stable foam. This foam is then mixed into the cement and water slurry, resulting in a material with a homogeneous cellular structure. The bubbles of air or gas trapped within the cement matrix give foam concrete its characteristic low density and excellent thermal insulation properties.

The production of vaahtobetoniin involves blending cement, water, and the foaming agent in specific proportions to achieve the desired density and strength. The foam is often generated in a separate foaming machine and then pumped into the mixer. Once mixed, the material is poured or pumped into formwork, where it hardens. Unlike traditional concrete, vaahtobetoniin does not typically contain coarse aggregate, which contributes to its low density.

Vaahtobetoniin finds application in various construction scenarios, primarily where its lightweight and insulating properties are advantageous. It is commonly used for thermal insulation layers in floors and roofs, as lightweight fill material for void filling, and in the production of precast blocks and panels. Its low density also reduces the structural load on buildings, making it suitable for renovations or extensions where load-bearing capacity is a concern. Furthermore, its fire-resistant qualities make it a safe choice for certain applications. The material's versatility allows for adjustments in density and strength by altering the mix proportions.
