Värvikoordinaat

Värvikoordinaat is a term used in color science and digital imaging to describe the numerical representation of a color. It is a system of values that defines a specific color within a given color space. Different color spaces, such as RGB, CMYK, or HSL, use different sets of coordinates to represent colors.

In the RGB color space, for example, a color is defined by three values representing the intensity of red, green, and blue light. These values typically range from 0 to 255, where 0 means no intensity and 255 means full intensity. Thus, a pure red would be (255, 0, 0), a pure green would be (0, 255, 0), and a pure blue would be (0, 0, 255). White is represented by (255, 255, 255) and black by (0, 0, 0).

The CMYK color space is used in printing and represents colors by the amount of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black ink required. These values are typically expressed as percentages.

The HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) color space represents colors in a more intuitive way for humans. Hue refers to the pure color (e.g., red, green, blue), saturation refers to the intensity of the color, and lightness refers to how light or dark the color is.

Color coordinates are fundamental for digital displays, image editing software, and color management systems, ensuring that colors are accurately displayed and reproduced across different devices and media. They provide a precise and reproducible method for specifying and manipulating colors.
