Värviküllastus

Värviküllastus, often translated as color saturation, is a fundamental attribute of color that describes the intensity or purity of a hue. It quantifies how much gray is mixed into a pure color. A highly saturated color is vivid and appears pure, while a desaturated color appears duller and closer to gray.

In digital imaging and graphic design, värviküllastus is a common adjustable parameter. Increasing saturation makes colors appear more vibrant and intense, while decreasing it makes them appear muted or washed out. This effect is achieved by adjusting the color's distance from the neutral gray axis in a color model like HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) or HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value).
