Vänsterkammarstorlek, often referred to as left ventricular size, is a critical parameter in assessing cardiac health. It quantifies the dimensions of the left ventricle, the heart's primary pumping chamber responsible for circulating oxygenated blood to the entire body. This measurement is typically obtained through echocardiography, a non-invasive ultrasound of the heart.

Several factors influence normal vänsterkammarstorlek, including age, sex, and body size. However, deviations from the expected range can indicate underlying cardiovascular conditions. An enlarged left ventricle, known as left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), can be a consequence of chronic conditions such as hypertension or valvular heart disease.
