Uusenet
Usenet, short for Users Network, is a worldwide distributed discussion system. It was developed in 1980 by Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis, students at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, respectively. Usenet is not a single entity but rather a collection of servers that store and exchange messages. These messages, known as "articles" or "posts," are organized into hierarchical categories called "newsgroups."
Users can access Usenet through dedicated newsreader software, which allows them to read and post messages
