Utsättande

Utsättande is a Swedish term that can be translated to "exposure" or "setting out" in English, depending on the context. It broadly refers to the act of placing something or someone in a particular environment or situation. This can encompass various scenarios, from the physical placement of objects to the psychological or social exposure of individuals.

In a psychological context, utsättande often relates to therapeutic techniques, particularly in the treatment of phobias and anxiety disorders. This involves gradually and systematically exposing an individual to the feared stimulus or situation in a controlled and safe manner. The aim is to help the person habituate to the stimulus, reducing their fear and anxiety response over time. This process is a cornerstone of exposure therapy.
