Urolithiasisra is a medical term referring to the presence of stones or calculi within the urinary tract. These stones can form in the kidneys and travel down the ureters, bladder, or urethra. The composition of urinary stones varies, with calcium oxalate being the most common type. Other types include uric acid, struvite, and cystine stones.

The formation of urolithiasisra is often associated with a combination of factors. These can include insufficient fluid intake, a diet high in certain substances like oxalate, sodium, or animal protein, and certain medical conditions such as gout or inflammatory bowel disease. Genetic predisposition also plays a role in some cases.

Symptoms of urolithiasisra depend on the size, location, and movement of the stones. Small stones may pass unnoticed. Larger stones or those that obstruct urine flow can cause severe pain, typically in the flank or side, which may radiate to the abdomen or groin. Treatment strategies vary depending on the stone's characteristics and the patient's symptoms. Small stones may be managed with increased fluid intake and pain medication to facilitate passage. Larger or more problematic stones may require medical procedures like lithotripsy (using shock waves to break up stones) or surgical removal.
