Unmachineable

Unmachineable refers to a characteristic of certain materials or objects that cannot be processed or shaped using standard machining techniques. Machining involves removing material from a workpiece using tools such as drills, lathes, or milling machines to achieve a desired shape and size. Materials that are extremely hard, brittle, or have very complex internal structures may be considered unmachineable by conventional means.

The classification of something as unmachineable is often relative to the available technology and the specific machining processes employed. For instance, a material that was once considered unmachineable might become workable with the advent of new tools or techniques, such as advanced ceramics or superalloys.
