Unilever

Unilever is a British-Dutch multinational consumer goods company that produces foods, beverages, cleaning agents, and personal care products. It operates in more than 190 countries and markets a wide range of brands across categories such as foods, refreshment, home care, and personal care. Among its best-known brands are Dove, Lipton, Knorr, Hellmann’s, Magnum, and Surf.

Unilever traces its origins to the 1929–1930 merger of the British Lever Brothers and the Dutch Margarine Unie. It was formed as a dual-listed company, consisting of two parent corporations: Unilever PLC (UK) and Unilever NV (Netherlands), which share management and operations but maintain separate legal structures. The corporate headquarters are in London and Rotterdam.

The group has pursued sustainable growth through initiatives to improve nutrition, reduce environmental impact, and support livelihoods in its supply chain. It reports on sustainability through programs such as the Sustainable Living Plan and its later Compass framework, aimed at climate, resource use, and social impact.

Unilever is publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange and Euronext Amsterdam, with a global investor base. Governance is provided by a board and an executive leadership team that oversees the two-parent structure, coordinating across its international operations and brand portfolio.
