Understött

Understött is a term used in architectural and civil engineering to describe a structural condition in which an element is primarily supported from below. It refers to components whose vertical loads are carried by foundations or footings rather than by upper structural members, such as braces or cantilevers. In this sense, a column, platform, or load-bearing wall described as understött transfers most of its weight directly to the ground.
