Umweltplaketten
Umweltplaketten, also known as environmental stickers or low-emission zone stickers, are a system implemented in Germany to restrict access to certain urban areas for vehicles that do not meet specific emission standards. These stickers are color-coded and indicate the level of particulate matter emissions a vehicle produces. Vehicles are classified into four categories based on their emission standards, with Category 1 being the highest polluting and Category 4 being the lowest.
The primary purpose of the Umweltplakette is to improve air quality in cities by reducing traffic pollution.
To obtain an Umweltplakette, vehicle owners must present their vehicle registration documents to an official inspection
