Ulupi

Ulupi was a princess of the Naga kingdom and one of the wives of Arjuna, a prominent hero in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. She was the daughter of King Kauravya, the ruler of the Naga people. Her story is primarily found within the Mahabharata, particularly during Arjuna's exile.

During his exile, Arjuna was in the region of the Naga kingdom. It is said that he encountered Ulupi, who was captivated by his prowess and appearance. She fell in love with him and, through a clever ruse, managed to lure him into her underwater dwelling. Despite her Naga lineage, Ulupi and Arjuna married. Their union produced a son named Iravan.

Ulupi played a significant role in supporting Arjuna and her son. When Iravan was eventually killed in the Kurukshetra War, it was Ulupi who helped revive Arjuna after he was injured. She is often depicted as a strong and resourceful woman who wielded considerable influence. Her character highlights the complex relationships and alliances within the Mahabharata, demonstrating how even beings from different realms could form meaningful bonds. Her story also contributes to the rich mythology surrounding the Naga race and their interactions with the human world.
