Ufergefährdungen refers to the risks and dangers associated with the banks of bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, and coastlines. These hazards can impact both the environment and human safety. One primary concern is bank erosion, which occurs when the force of water currents or waves gradually wears away the soil and vegetation along the shore. This can lead to land loss, damage to infrastructure like bridges and buildings near the water, and sedimentation downstream, affecting aquatic ecosystems.

Another significant ufergefährdung is the risk of landslides or collapses, particularly on steep or unstable riverbanks. Heavy rainfall, rapid water level fluctuations, or seismic activity can trigger these events, posing a threat to anyone in the vicinity.
