UVA1hoidot

UVA1hoidot, or UVA1 phototherapy, is a medical treatment that uses controlled doses of ultraviolet A1 radiation (about 340–400 nm) directed at the skin to manage certain inflammatory and fibrotic skin conditions. The deeper penetration of UVA1 into the dermis distinguishes it from other phototherapies and is thought to contribute to its therapeutic effects.

The mechanism involves modulation of skin immune cells and remodeling of dermal collagen. UVA1 can reduce inflammatory signaling and suppress pathogenic T-cell activity while promoting changes in the extracellular matrix. These actions can lead to reduced skin thickening and improved elasticity in conditions characterized by inflammation and fibrosis.

UVA1therapy is most commonly used for conditions such as atopic dermatitis and localized morphea (localized scleroderma), and it has also been used for some cutaneous T-cell lymphomas. Evidence supports benefit in select patients with these disorders, though responses vary by individual, disease subtype, and treatment course. It is not a universal cure and is usually considered after failure of or in combination with other therapies.

Treatment is typically provided on an outpatient basis over several weeks. A common course involves two to three sessions per week for six to twelve weeks, with dose adjustments based on tolerance and skin response. Equipment includes specialized UVA1 lamps or lasers, and patients wear protective eyewear and shielding to minimize exposure to surrounding skin. Side effects can include transient redness, dryness, itching, and tanning; long-term risks include photoaging and uncertain cancer risk with extended use, underscoring the need for medical supervision and individualized risk assessment.
