The UEFA European Championship, often referred to as the UEFA Euro, is the principal international men's football championship of Europe, organized by UEFA. It is held every four years, typically in the year between FIFA World Cup tournaments. The competition began in 1960 as the European Nations’ Cup and was rebranded as the UEFA European Championship in 1968.

The finals involve a limited number of national teams; modern editions stage 24 teams in the finals, after a qualifying phase. Qualification runs through group matches and playoff rounds in home-and-away formats; the host nation or nations are selected by UEFA before the tournament and are automatically qualified for the finals.

In the finals, the 24 teams are divided into six groups of four. The group stage is followed by knockout rounds (round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final). The tournament is played in multiple cities within the host country or countries. The official trophy is the Henri Delaunay Trophy, named after the French football administrator; individual awards include the Player of the Tournament.

As of 2024, Germany has won the competition four times, the most of any nation. Other multiple champions include Spain with three titles and France and Italy with two each. The championship has been hosted by a variety of countries, with notable co-hosts in 2000 (Belgium and the Netherlands) and 2012 (Poland and Ukraine); the 2020 edition was staged across multiple cities in Europe.
