Tüükasid

Tüükasid, often referred to as warts in English, are small, rough growths that appear on the skin. They are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). There are several different types of HPV, and they can cause various kinds of warts, depending on where on the body they appear. Common warts typically form on the hands and fingers, while plantar warts develop on the soles of the feet. Genital warts, a sexually transmitted infection, affect the genital area. Other less common types include flat warts, which are smoother and can appear anywhere on the body, and filiform warts, which are thread-like and often found on the face.

Warts are generally benign and are not considered a serious health concern for most individuals. However, they can be contagious and spread through direct skin-to-skin contact or by touching an object that an infected person has used. The virus enters the body through small cuts or abrasions in the skin. While many warts disappear on their own over time, this can take months or even years. For cosmetic reasons, or if they cause discomfort or pain, various treatment options are available. These include over-the-counter remedies like salicylic acid, cryotherapy (freezing), or minor surgical procedures performed by a healthcare professional. It is advisable to consult a doctor if you are unsure about a skin growth or if warts are persistent, painful, or spreading.
