Törmäysteoriaa, known in English as impact theory, is a scientific concept that explains the formation of celestial bodies and features through collisions. This theory is fundamental to understanding the evolution of planets, moons, and even the structure of the solar system.

The most widely accepted application of törmäysteoriaa is the giant-impact hypothesis, which proposes that Earth's Moon formed from the debris of a colossal collision between the early Earth and a Mars-sized protoplanet, often referred to as Theia.
