Töjningtäthet, a Swedish term, translates to strain density in English. It is a concept used in mechanics and materials science to describe the amount of strain energy stored within a unit volume of a deformable material. When a material undergoes deformation, such as stretching or compressing, work is done on it, and this energy is stored within the material as elastic potential energy, assuming the deformation is within the elastic limit.
