Tähtajadega refers to a traditional Estonian folk custom involving the blessing of stars, typically observed during the winter solstice period, particularly around January 13th, which is known as *Tähtede öö* (Star Night). This custom is deeply rooted in Estonian pagan and later Christianized folklore, blending elements of both traditions.

The practice centers around the belief that on this night, the stars are particularly active and possess special powers. In Estonian rural culture, it was common for people to gather outdoors to observe the stars and make wishes or prayers for good fortune in the coming year. Some traditions included leaving offerings, such as milk or bread, outside to honor the stars or celestial spirits.

Another aspect of tähtajadega involves the use of star-shaped symbols, often woven into textiles or crafted as decorative items. These symbols were believed to ward off evil spirits and bring protection to homes and livestock.
