Työlämmitin

Työlämmitin is a portable heating device used to warm work spaces such as construction sites, workshops, garages, or ships during cold weather. The term covers several designs intended for temporary or mobile heating, and devices are commonly powered by fuel or electricity.

Two main categories exist: fuel-burning and electric. Fuel-burning työlämmittimet typically operate on diesel, kerosene, or natural gas and use combustion to generate heat. They may be radiant, emitting infrared warmth directly, or convective, blowing warm air into the space. Electric työlämmittimet draw power from mains electricity and include fan heaters, convection heaters, and infrared or ceramic element heaters.

Operation requires attention to ventilation and clearances. Fuel-burning units produce combustion exhaust and can raise carbon monoxide levels, so they are normally used outdoors or in well-ventilated areas, with appropriate detectors when required. Electric heaters are generally used indoors in accordance with electrical safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.

Safety and regulation emphasize proper installation, ventilation, and stability. Look for features such as tip-over switches, overheat protection, oxygen-depletion sensors, and automatic shutoffs. Users should follow local regulations regarding indoor use of portable heaters, fuel storage, and ventilation.
