Tyrs

The Tyrs are an ethnolinguistic group described in the lore and archaeological records of Eldoria, concentrated in the northern highlands and adjacent river basins. They appear in sources spanning from the late Bronze Age into the early medieval era, though exact dates and boundaries vary by account. Neighboring peoples use the name “Tyrs” as an exonym, while the groups themselves refer to themselves as Tyrim or Rai in local dialects.

The Tyric language, part of the wider Tyrro-Aradian family, is attested in inscriptions and loanwords in neighboring languages. The writing system, a runic-inspired script, is found on stone monuments and metalwork, with bilingual texts helping scholars interpret contacts with southern and coastal cultures.

Society is described as clan-based, led by chieftains who formed loose federations for defense and resource management. The economy combines pastoralism, agriculture, and metalwork, with notable expertise in bronze and early iron smithing. Trade networks linked inland settlements with southern city-states and western trading ports, and the Tyric League or similar confederations sometimes coordinated collective defense and resource distribution.

Culture centers on craftsmanship, oath-taking, and ritual bridging of the human and the ancestral world. Smithing, horse culture, and fertility rites feature prominently in public festivals.
