Tyrkiskcypriotiske refers to Turkish Cypriots, who are the ethnic group of Turkish descent native to the island of Cyprus. The political status of Turkish Cypriots is a central aspect of the Cyprus dispute. Following the intercommunal violence and the Turkish invasion of 1974, the northern part of the island declared itself the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in 1983. However, the TRNC is recognized only by Turkey, while the internationally recognized government of Cyprus is led by the Republic of Cyprus, which is predominantly Greek Cypriot.

Turkish Cypriots maintain their own institutions, including a parliament and government, within the TRNC. Their economy is largely dependent on Turkey and tourism. Efforts towards a reunification of the island have been ongoing for decades, involving complex negotiations and international mediation, but a lasting solution has yet to be achieved.
