TypFStecker

TypFStecker, commonly known as the Type F plug or Schuko plug, is a standard electrical plug used for 230 V alternating current in many European countries. It is designed to connect devices to Schuko-type outlets and is often used with CEE 7/4 sockets. In practice, it is widely found in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and several other parts of Europe.

The plug consists of two round pins and grounding contacts. The two pins are typically 4.8 mm in diameter and spaced about 19 mm apart. Grounding is provided by conductive strips on the sides of the plug, which engage corresponding earthing contacts in the socket. The design is non-polarized, meaning the live and neutral pins are interchangeable from a safety standpoint, though many devices rely on correct phasing from the outlet.

Electrical and compatibility notes. Type F plugs are normally rated for up to about 16 amperes at 230 volts, suitable for most household appliances. They are compatible with Schuko sockets (Type F) and with Type E/F combination outlets. A pure Type F plug cannot connect to a Type E socket in a grounded way without a hybrid plug; devices intended for both E and F outlets use a CEE 7/7 plug, which has features compatible with both standards.

Safety and standards. The Type F system is defined within European electrical standards and is part of the broader CEE 7 family (including Type E and the hybrid E/F variants). The design emphasizes secure grounding and robust contact surfaces, with protection enhanced by appropriate fuse ratings and, in modern installations, socket shutters.
