Tværsektorielle describes the collaborative approach that integrates actors and resources from multiple sectors to address issues that cannot be solved within a single sector. In public administration, it involves shared objectives, joint planning, and coordinated service delivery across departments, agencies, and organizations such as health, education, social services, housing, and transport.

Implementation relies on governance structures like interagency committees, joint strategies, formal agreements, pooled funding, and data-sharing arrangements. Success depends on leadership, clear roles, common indicators, and compatible information systems. Challenges include organizational cultures, legal constraints, privacy concerns, funding silos, and accountability.

Applications include integrated care pathways for vulnerable populations, early childhood development programs combining health and education, urban planning that links housing with health, and public health initiatives addressing determinants of health through housing, transport, and environment.

Evaluation uses cross-sector indicators, outcome measures across sectors, and process metrics to monitor coordination, resource use, and user experiences.
