Turkmnistanas

Turkmenistan, officially the Republic of Turkmenistan, is a country located in Central Asia. It is the largest country in Central Asia by area, but sparsely populated. Turkmenistan is bordered by the Caspian Sea to the west, Iran to the south, Afghanistan to the southeast, Uzbekistan to the east and northeast, and Kazakhstan to the north and northwest. The capital and largest city is Ashgabat.

The country is largely desert, dominated by the Karakum Desert. Turkmenistan has significant reserves of natural gas, making it a major player in the global energy market. The economy is heavily reliant on these resources, though efforts are being made to diversify.

Turkmenistan has a history stretching back millennia, with influences from various empires including the Persian, Arab, and Russian. It gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The government has been characterized by a strong presidential system and, for much of its post-Soviet history, a cult of personality surrounding its leaders.

The population is predominantly Turkmen, with significant Uzbek and Russian minorities. The official language is Turkmen, and the majority of the population practices Islam. Turkmenistan is known for its rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and crafts like carpet weaving. The country is also home to unique natural sites, such as the Darvaza gas crater, often referred to as the "Door to Hell."
