Turbovrtuový

Turbovrtuový refers to a type of aircraft engine that combines features of a turbojet and a turboprop. It is essentially a turbojet engine with a propeller attached to the front, driven by the turbine. This design allows for greater fuel efficiency at lower speeds compared to a pure turbojet, while still offering higher speeds than a traditional turboprop.

The core of a turbovrtuový engine is a gas turbine. Air is drawn in and compressed, then mixed with fuel and ignited in a combustion chamber. The resulting hot gases expand and drive a turbine. In a turbovrtuový, a significant portion of the turbine's power is used to turn a propeller, which generates most of the engine's thrust. The remaining exhaust gases also contribute some thrust.

This dual propulsion method provides a unique performance envelope. Turbovrtuový engines are often found in regional airliners, cargo planes, and some military aircraft that require a balance of speed, range, and efficiency. They are particularly well-suited for operations from shorter runways. The propeller offers excellent low-speed thrust, while the gas turbine component allows for higher cruising speeds than a purely propeller-driven aircraft. Examples include aircraft like the Antonov An-22 or the Lockheed C-130 Hercules variants.
