Tuotanto

Tuotanto is Finnish for production and refers to the process of creating goods or services. In Finnish usage, it spans economic, industrial, cultural and energetic contexts and can denote both general production and specific forms such as film production or electricity generation.

In economics, tuotanto describes turning inputs—such as labor, capital, land and entrepreneurship—into outputs. The production function models how input combinations determine output. Productivity, efficiency, and capacity utilization influence economic growth and GDP, which measures the value of produced goods and services within a country over a period.

In manufacturing and industry, tuotanto encompasses production planning, sourcing, manufacturing processes, quality control, and logistics. Lean manufacturing and just-in-time methods aim to minimize waste and shorten cycle times. Electricity production, mining, and agricultural production are also described with this term in Finnish.

In media and entertainment, tuotanto refers to the creation of film, television, radio, or music projects. It covers development, financing, pre-production, principal photography or recording, post-production, and distribution. A production company is called tuotantoyhtiö in Finnish.
