Tuors

Tuors refers to the descendants of Tuor, a major figure in J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. Tuor is a mortal man chosen by Ulmo, one of the Valar, to travel to the hidden elven city of Gondolin in the First Age and deliver warnings about Morgoth's coming assault.

In Gondolin, Tuor is received by King Turgon and marries Idril Celebrindal. The couple's son is Eärendil the Mariner, whose voyage to Valinor to seek aid against Morgoth becomes a turning point in the history of Middle-earth. Eärendil's marriage to Elwing and their two sons, Elros and Elrond, establish important lineages in later ages—the Kings of Númenor and the Elven Lord of Rivendell, respectively.

As a dynastic designation, the Tuors thus denote a lineage that links the Houses of Men and the Elves and helps shape events in Tolkien's legendarium, including the resolution of the War of Wrath and the eventual fates of Middle-earth.
