Tuoba
Tuoba refers to a prominent Xianbei clan in northern China, which rose to political prominence in late antiquity and became the ruling house of the Northern Wei dynasty. The name is written in Chinese as 拓跋. The Tuoba led a succession of Xianbei and allied groups in the steppe and on the northern frontiers of Han Chinese states from the 4th through the 6th centuries CE. They played a central role in the unification and administration of northern China during the Northern Wei period.
