Tukkutytöt
Tukkutytöt is a Finnish term that translates to "timber girls" or "log girls." Historically, it referred to young women who worked in the timber industry, particularly in logging camps and sawmills. These women often performed tasks that were considered less physically demanding than those of male loggers, such as sorting logs, peeling bark, or working in sawmills. Their presence in what was predominantly a male-dominated industry reflects evolving social roles and the need for labor in resource-intensive sectors.
The role of tukkutytöt emerged as industrialization progressed and the demand for timber increased in Finland.
