Tsuchiura

Tsuchiura is a city located in southern Ibaraki Prefecture, in the Kantō region of Japan. It sits on the eastern shore of Lake Kasumigaura, the second-largest freshwater lake in the country, and is part of the broader Kasumigaura area known for water-based recreation and agriculture. The city lies in flat to gently rolling terrain and experiences a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and cool winters; precipitation is spread throughout the year with a rainy season in late spring to early summer.

In the modern era, Tsuchiura has developed as a regional center for commerce, industry, and agriculture. Its economy is diversified, with light manufacturing, services, and farming; rice and vegetables are among the principal agricultural products, and lake-related tourism supports local businesses.
