Trükikõrgust refers to the height of the raised printing surface on a letterpress printing plate or type. In traditional letterpress, this precise height is crucial for achieving a clear and consistent impression on paper. Different printing systems and materials may have slightly varying standard heights, but a common dimension historically established was the height of lead type, often referred to as "type high." This standardized height ensures that all the elements on a printing plate or composed type align evenly with the platen or cylinder of the printing press.

If the printing surface is too high, it can create excessive pressure, potentially damaging the paper or the printing plate itself, leading to blurred or distorted images.
