Tromletørring

Tromletørring, also known as drum drying, is a thermal drying process commonly used in the food industry, particularly for grains, seeds, and other agricultural products. The method involves passing moist material through a rotating cylindrical drum, or tromle, where it is exposed to high temperatures, typically between 150°C and 250°C, causing rapid evaporation of moisture. This technique is highly efficient due to its continuous operation and ability to handle large volumes of material.

The process begins with the moist material being fed into one end of the drum, which is slightly inclined to allow gravity-assisted movement. As the drum rotates, the material is subjected to intense heat, either through direct contact with the drum surface or indirect heating via steam or hot air. The rapid drying occurs within seconds, reducing moisture content significantly before the material exits the other end. Tromletørring is particularly valued for its speed and energy efficiency, though it requires careful temperature control to prevent overheating or scorching of the product.
