Transplanturi

Transplanturi, also known as organ transplantation, is a medical procedure where a diseased or damaged organ is replaced with a healthy organ from a donor. This life-saving treatment is typically a last resort for patients suffering from organ failure. The organs that can be transplanted include kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, pancreas, and intestines. Donors can be either living or deceased. Living donors are usually close relatives or friends who donate a kidney, a lobe of the liver, or part of a lung. A complex system of matching donors and recipients is in place to ensure compatibility and minimize the risk of rejection. This involves factors like blood type, tissue type, and organ size.

Following a transplant, recipients must take immunosuppressant medications for the rest of their lives. These drugs prevent the body's immune system from attacking the new organ. Despite advancements, organ rejection remains a significant risk, and the long-term success of transplants depends on various factors, including the patient's overall health, the type of organ transplanted, and adherence to medical treatment. The demand for organs often exceeds the supply, making organ donation a critical issue in healthcare.
