Transfusionsinduziertem refers to conditions or complications that arise as a direct result of receiving a blood transfusion. These can range from mild to severe and are generally categorized based on their timing and underlying mechanism.

One common category is immunologic transfusion reactions. These occur when the recipient's immune system reacts to antigens present on the transfused blood components, such as red blood cells, platelets, or plasma proteins. Examples include acute hemolytic transfusion reactions, which can happen if incompatible blood is transfused, and febrile non-hemolytic transfusion reactions, characterized by fever and chills. Allergic reactions, ranging from mild hives to severe anaphylaxis, can also occur.

Non-immunologic reactions are also a concern. These can include transfusion-transmitted infections, where pathogens like viruses or bacteria are transmitted through the transfused blood, although rigorous screening has significantly reduced this risk. Circulatory overload, where the recipient's cardiovascular system cannot handle the volume of transfused fluid, is another possibility, particularly in individuals with pre-existing cardiac or renal issues. Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a serious complication that causes acute respiratory distress.

The management of transfusionsinduziertem involves careful monitoring of patients during and after transfusions, prompt recognition of symptoms, and appropriate interventions. Prevention is also a key aspect, emphasizing meticulous crossmatching of blood products, appropriate donor screening, and careful patient selection for transfusion.
