Transformerstasjoner, also known as substations, are critical components of electrical power systems. They serve as intermediary points for stepping up or stepping down voltage levels. Electricity is generated at relatively low voltages, but to efficiently transmit it over long distances, the voltage must be increased significantly, a process called stepping up. This is achieved at a substation using transformers. Conversely, before electricity can be safely distributed to homes and businesses, its voltage must be lowered, or stepped down, which also occurs at substations.
