Trabekuleiksitermia, also known as trabeculitis, is a condition characterized by inflammation of the trabecular meshwork, a structure within the eye that drains aqueous humor, the fluid that fills the anterior chamber of the eye. This inflammation can lead to increased intraocular pressure, a condition known as glaucoma. Trabeculitis can be caused by various factors, including infections, autoimmune disorders, and certain medications.

The primary symptom of trabeculitis is elevated intraocular pressure, which can lead to visual field loss and optic nerve damage if left untreated. Other symptoms may include redness, pain, and blurred vision. Diagnosis typically involves a comprehensive eye examination, including tonometry to measure intraocular pressure and gonioscopy to examine the angle of the eye.

Treatment for trabeculitis often focuses on reducing intraocular pressure. This may include medications such as prostaglandin analogs, beta-blockers, or alpha-agonists. In some cases, surgical intervention may be necessary, such as trabeculectomy or implantation of a glaucoma drainage device. Infections may require antibiotic therapy, and autoimmune disorders may necessitate immunosuppressive treatment.

Prevention of trabeculitis involves maintaining good overall health, avoiding contact with infectious agents, and managing any underlying medical conditions that may increase the risk of inflammation. Regular eye check-ups are also crucial for early detection and management of trabeculitis.
