Trådprofiler

Trådprofiler refer to the shape of the threads on a screw, bolt, or nut. This profile is crucial for the proper functioning and strength of a threaded fastener. The most common type of thread profile is the V-thread, characterized by a triangular shape with flanks meeting at an angle. Within V-threads, there are several standards, such as the Unified National Coarse (UNC) and Unified National Fine (UNF) threads, which differ in their pitch (the distance between adjacent threads). The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) also defines metric thread profiles, commonly designated with an "M" followed by the nominal diameter and pitch.

Another important thread profile is the square thread, which has a rectangular cross-section. Square threads are known for their high efficiency in transmitting power and are often used in applications like screw jacks and vises. Acme threads are a modification of square threads, featuring a trapezoidal profile that is easier to manufacture and provides better resistance to stripping. Buttress threads have a asymmetrical profile, with one steep flank and one perpendicular flank, designed to withstand axial loads primarily in one direction. The choice of thread profile depends on the specific application, considering factors such as load-bearing capacity, ease of assembly, and resistance to loosening.
