Toyosawamachi

Toyosawamachi was a town located in Higashikari District, Akita Prefecture, Japan. It was established on April 1, 1889, as a municipality. The town's geography was characterized by its location within the Kitakami Mountains, with the Toyosawa River flowing through it. This natural setting contributed to its primarily agricultural economy, with rice cultivation being a significant activity.

Over the decades, Toyosawamachi underwent administrative changes. On April 1, 1955, it merged with the town of Dōyō and the villages of Nakatsume and Minamigō to form the new town of Yokote. This amalgamation was part of a broader consolidation of local governments in Japan. Following this merger, Toyosawamachi ceased to exist as an independent entity.
