Torhäuser
Torhäuser are a type of historical building found in various European architectural traditions, particularly prevalent in Germany. Literally translating to "gatehouse" or "gate tower," these structures served primarily as defensive entrances to castles, fortified towns, or other important complexes. Their design often incorporated elements for protection and control, such as thick walls, narrow openings for archers, and sometimes drawbridges or portcullises.
Beyond their defensive functions, Torhäuser also held symbolic importance. They represented the authority and prestige of
