Tokyo-3 is a fictional megacity in the Neon Genesis Evangelion media franchise. It functions as the headquarters of NERV, a paramilitary organization tasked with defending humanity against existential threats known as Angels. Within the series, Tokyo-3 is a fortified urban center built after Second Impact to serve as a defensive bastion and operational hub, located in Japan but depicted as distinct from ordinary Tokyo.

Geography and facilities: The city sits above the GeoFront, an extensive underground complex that houses NERV’s command center and the MAGI supercomputers. The surface district includes residential and administrative zones, a central business area, and infrastructure designed for rapid deployment of Evangelion units.

Military and science: Tokyo-3 houses the Evangelion bases, with storage and maintenance facilities for the Evangelion units and support personnel. The city is protected by layered security measures and readiness protocols, and its skyline is often shown under the looming presence of the Evas during Angel confrontations.

Role in the narrative: Throughout the series and films, Tokyo-3 serves as the primary arena for Angel engagements and the pilots’ activities, including Shinji Ikari's operations from Nerv’s facilities.
